My story about OCD
by Ben, age 8, OCD

Hi, my name is Ben. I am 8 years old and I have had ocd for two years. Everybody who doesn’t have ocd is lucky, but also if people do have ocd, then that’s okay. As long as you know how to fight it. My ocd’s name is Big Bully. He makes me worry about all sorts of things, like death and stuff, and having nightmares. Big Bully wears a small blue graduation hat that floats above his head. And his body is a rock with arms and legs and a mouth and eyes, his body has crackles. That’s how I imagine him. Here’s how I fight Big Bully. I ignore it. If I hear a thought, I don’t say it or get frightened much, But, most of the time, he leaves me alone. Well, if you have really bad ocd, go to a therapist, that’s my best way to do it. Cause I have therapist her name is Miss April. She helps me by talking to me about my worries and she listens to my worries. We also play games. That is all I have to say for now. Don’t do what your ocd tells you to, cause it gets stronger when you do what is says.
